Intermittent fasting has gained our attention for its dental & health benefits, which include:

Dental Benefits

1.Reduced Sugar Intake

Intermittent fasting can reduce the amount of sugar you consume, which can lower the risk of cavities and limit the food that oral bacteria use as a substrate.

2.Less acid exposure

When you eat, especially foods high in sugar and carbohydrates, oral bacteria produce acids that can erode tooth enamel. Fasting periods can reduce the frequency of these acid attacks.

3. Improved hydration

Improved hydration, fasting periods can lead to increased saliva production, which can help remineralize enamel and maintain a healthy oral PH. Staying hydrated during fasting periods is also important.

4. Balanced oral microbiome

Balanced oral microbiome Fasting can create a less favorable environment for cavity-causing bacteria by limiting the availability of sugars and carbohydrates. This can help reduce the risk of harmful bacteria overgrowth and dental infections.

Health Benefits

1. Weight Loss

Intermittent fasting is a fantastic way for weight loss. By reducing calorie intake. By eating balanced meals and portion sizes. Daniel and I find it easier to manage our weight eating between 11am sometimes 12 pm - 7 pm or as close to this as possible.

2. Heart Health

Intermittent fasting can improve cardiovascular health. It has been associated with lower blood pressure, healthier resting heart rates, and a reduction in LDL cholesterol, often referred to as "bad" cholesterol.

3. Reduced Inflammation

Inflammation plays a role in many chronic diseases. Intermittent fasting may help reduce inflammation, potentially benefiting those with conditions like Alzheimer’s disease, arthritis, asthma, multiple sclerosis, and stroke.

4. Cellular Repair

Fasting can stimulate a process known as autophagy, where the body cleans out damaged cells and regenerates new ones. This process helps maintain healthy tissues and may reduce the risk of diseases such as Alzheimer’s and cancer by clearing out nonfunctional proteins.

5. Hormonal Balance

Intermittent fasting can influence hormone levels, notably increasing human growth hormone (HGH), fat burning and muscle development. It can improve insulin sensitivity, helping to regulate blood sugar levels.

6. Gene Expression

Fasting has been shown to trigger positive changes in gene expression, particularly in genes linked to longevity and disease prevention. These changes can enhance overall health and potentially extend lifespan.

7. Mental Health

The benefits of intermittent fasting aren’t limited to physical health; it can also positively impact mental health.

Intermittent fasting as your lifestyle could offer a lot of health benefits.
